五所平之助的女性角色，表现无助的等待，战后日本的萧瑟，对男人的依附，但也逐渐开始自主和独立；乙羽信子很适合这种艺妓的角色，少了一些喜剧情节，却多了一份沉重。大阪风情画般的场地，一次愉悦又忧郁的恋爱过程。3.8

同样设定在底层，也一样有战败的痕迹，就像是去年《看得见烟囱的地方》的姐妹篇。五所聚焦战后失去亲人的女性群像，为追求金钱只能依靠男性和权利者生存，主题看似与沟口很像，但片中的男女形象则和他完全不同，她们是平静的，压制自己的愤怒，她们也都是不幸的却没有反抗，最后抛出未来女性何去何从。
