The first time I watch DES, I thought that was a fatastic work. Yet to my further interest and after I did my own little research about Dennis Nielsen, I realize this work is really on a modern outsider view on an action happened fourty years ago. David Tennant’s act on Dennis Nilsen is far from what Dennis nilsen the man actually were. Nilsen was indeed as tenant described, mundane, but also far beyond. Nilsen was way more of a energy lacking person in the released interview footage than he is portrayed in DES. Tennant is still too lively for Nilsen I would say. I see he tried, but I also can see the difference between them. that might be a good thing for him and the audience tho. All in all, this is still a very good production as there purpose is not making a documentary but a mini tv series and its never really about nilsen but a community/system. It made up the story and the characters. that’s all it mattered.
