Featuring a heroine who loses her friend and her phone in the vast city, the film uses an array of styles to convey with aplomb and self-assurance our age of incessant communication. Miyasaki devotes lavish attention to filming Singapore’s cityscapes. Aided by actress Nina Endo, who also appeared in his previous film, and a soundtrack by The Are and Lil’Yukichi, the filmmaker delivers an offbeat account of a young woman’s strange journey.

辣妹在新加坡丢失手机迷路的故事。前面聚焦日本郊外底层青年的闭塞感，后面则多次表现其游客身份对世界对历史的无知。但全片看下来，导演其实也只是想拍个有意思的游记而已。
