Illegally money lead to death

What impressed me the most was the ending of this movie. As usual, I thought Moss would be the last one to conquer the bad guy and take the money with his girl, living a happy life. But actually, Moss was suddenly shot down by a bunch of Mexican gangs. It really shocked me. In China, we call this money illegal money, as it can lead to your death or something bad happening in the future.
