I hope we can all find our own House of D
This is a movie filled with delicate emotions. It's niche and highly rated. Worth recommending.
Tommy is outstanding in every aspect: intelligence, learning, and character. He's worth learning from and reflecting upon our own youth. He takes care of his mother, who has become sensitive since losing her husband, and rarely experiences moments of happiness. He is her only support. The only time he sees his mother laugh heartily is when they play ball together. However, soon he mentions that he wants to go to a dance party, which shows that he pays attention to bringing joy to his mother. He gets anxious when he oversleeps at his girlfriend's house. He even dresses up as a funny uncle to amuse his mother. They rely on each other, but emotionally speaking, Tommy is more understanding. When I was young, I often indulged in expressing my various emotions without considering the pressure it might put on my parents. Sometimes, I would even hide like a turtle. Every family has harmony and conflicts. Not to mention his academic achievements—he's a scholarship magnet. And in terms of character, he is loyal to his mentally challenged friend. If I were 13, I wouldn't even admit to having such a friend. But when I was very young, I had a friend like that, too, in a rural environment. However, I believed it was because I was too young and ignorant. After I developed a sense of shame in junior high school, I thought it would be impossible for me to do the same. Tommy carries this friendship into his middle age and will continue to do so. We should cherish the friends we have in different stages of our lives. Only by maintaining this mindset can we meet those lifelong soulmates.
Regarding the convict woman, she is Tommy's life mentor and an important character during his adolescence. During our own adolescence, we also encounter many people like her, but I believe that human nature is shaped by ourselves. What kind of person you are will attract people with corresponding personalities. They will then further shape you, but ultimately, it is your own nature that drives this self-transformation. We need to pay attention to our inner selves, to identify what is good and what is not, in order to truly change ourselves.
Tommy has a complicated but happy life. I hope we can all find our own House of D. It is a garden, a prison, and a library. It is your inner self and also the part of you that can be changed.
