choose knowledge to change fate

the main character in this movie is a teacher. my father was a teacher,too. I really do not understand why he was so much interested in English,besides I was interested in this language when I was very young because of his influence. he once told me he and his classmate run to follow foreigners just for practice their oral English. in my opinion,they are so much concern for to change their fate,so they choose English. in this film,the young teacher dead in a murder,that's a pity.but also is a director's worry.
