还是挺好看的，目标人物有罪无罪之间的几次摇摆，男主自身的心理状态也发生了很大的变化，因为Sylvio本质是个好人，这一家子又给了他不曾有过的温暖，最终结局也是完美。Gilbert Roland很抢眼，好在Tony Curtis特别可爱~

这次是卧底到家庭中了，变成家庭伦理剧好像也顺理成章了。柯蒂斯扮演的男主角内心挣扎其实演的不太够，他似乎还是更热衷谈恋爱，谈恋爱的时候眼中才有光，要挣扎了要展示真演技的时候反而有点演不来了。观众可能也在等这个卧底最后的“选择”吧，没想到最后还是男二自己选了，这就显得男主更弱了。

谋杀悬疑开头，警察卧底却逐渐成为家庭言情伦理剧，对疑犯的调查却变成当深入了解一个人并产生羁绊后「情与法」的两难（事实上故事对于警探在这方面的刻画非常弱，最后甚至需要用巧合与「天意」来规避角色的困境），尽管被标记为「黑色电影」更像某种通俗肥皂剧。

美式意大利人的故事，似乎永远都是着落于家庭。在整个故事里，互相矛盾的因素汇集在一个人身上，一边是受困于谋杀的罪与罚，另一边是家庭的温馨美满，死亡成了唯一可以选择的结局。

佩夫尼的故事讲得比较细致，真凶伏法并不是目标，他更关心卷入这个谋杀中两个男人的故事，卧底让男主被置于与“凶手”一样的境地，无法抓捕和不能自首被悬挂在天平两端，死亡成了唯一解。
