这一集看的云里雾里，翻出去看了看国外的评论，发现了一些背景信息和影评人的点评，一些关键信息整理如下，方便大家理解来龙去脉。
首先，不要忽视了本集的名字，Bright and High Circle，来自普希金的一首诗《 When Your So Young and Fairy Years》，通读全诗大概能明白导演的隐喻。
第二，导演兼编剧， Matthew Weiner曾经被以前mad men共事的一位女编剧指控过性骚扰。但他并没有正式回应，这件事也不了了之。
第三，众所周知的me too事件，是一大关键背景信息。另外，导演兼编剧本人对Me too是持反对意见的。
把线索连接起来，我们大概可以理解，这一集最主要的表达，是对于“指控”这件事本身的真相探究、心态变化，强调了流言蜚语的强大威力会带来本不必要的打击或是猜疑。
导演肯定是有私心的，借众人对于钢琴老师的褒贬不一的态度，表达身陷虚假指控时的不舒服的处境。
国外影评对此褒贬不一，贬的在于认为导演没有资格借剧集来为自己辩解、甚至也许是为me too事件中那些被指控的男性们辩解。褒的在于认为故事的推进细致入微且免于俗套，没有去重点渲染流言蜚语对于钢琴老师大卫事业的影响，或者去批判那些无所事事只会八卦的家庭主妇们，而是借一对夫妻来客观展现了整个事件过程而已。
至于alex讲述的关于艾伦的故事，有一部分人认为艾伦后来变性了，另一部分则认为艾伦本来就是女生，之所以alex在回答女主角的时候会紧张，是因为他隐瞒了这个信息，他认为这个信息对于他原本想讲的故事来说不是重点。
