In some way, parallel can be drawn between this Godardian, Kafka-esque tale and Patrick Tam's 1982 film Nomad. Although drastically differ in style, both deal with an abrupt termination of innocent (or rather naive) youth when the protagonist(s) inexplicably got entangled in a whirlwind of cruel political violence. Doubly so in this one when protagonist would profess certain political manifesto, but only as an acting exercise for a political film, without any real understanding; but even for his young white hipster peers who filled the party he attended "by chance", who purportedly possess a certain grasp of political reality, they could still be largely performative.
