that’s life

amy and jonah might just be my favourite sitcom couple of all times. amy not wanting to marry jonah just makes sense because as a woman who has suffered from marriage, being trapped into this trauma again but with a person she actually loves so much would hurt even deeper. and jonah, he’s done nothing wrong and his love is so sincere. its the good old ‘right person, wrong time’ cliche - in fact their whole relationship has been about bad timings - but with such realistic depiction it is both painful and beautiful. i love their relationship development as well as the two characters themselves with my whole heart, a slightly imperfect fairytale in today’s society. it gave me hope on love, on navigating this world as a woman, on idealism, even on the idea of raising kids while havinga career which i strongly despised before watching this show. (does love=marriage is a whole other topic which has been overly discussed on social media so im not gonna get into that but i think the writers made their point pretty clear in this show) the end song in episode 2 sums it up perfectly, ‘You say that everything changed You're right, we're grown now So won't you slide away Back to the ocean, I'll go back to the city lights’
