根据丘吉尔自传改编，自嘲是有不少，但是仍不免为尊者讳，尤其是丘吉尔的母亲。结合Churchill and Orwell一书，丘吉尔母亲确实为他早期出人头地的努力帮了大忙。

丘吉尔的成长史。基本上分成三部分，学校阶段，从军阶段，初为议员阶段。从军阶段又分为印度，苏丹，南非三个段落。整体上不仅反映了丘吉尔的青少年时代，也反应了十九世纪末英帝国的海外殖民战争。表演、服化道、配乐都很讲究，不少场面很宏大，尤其是在苏丹骑兵冲锋那段，令人叹为观止。不足之处就是过分强调丘吉尔的自传性质，画外音和独白过多了。
