It was a decent movie, with good acting and a sweet story. Wouldn't have watched it if not for the Oscar nod, but I guess I'm glad I did go.
I'm a bit iffy on whether a woman would really set a timer for boiling eggs/masturbating -- felt more like a guy thing to do? And I personally wouldn't climb into a tubful of water with all those gods know what chemicals.
But at least we get a happy ending, though I knew Eliza was either previously a sea-human hybrid or going to become one when I saw the lines on her neck. And I was surprised how kind everyone except the villain have been to the sea creature, eg, I though the neighbor would have been a lot angrier with the cat, though I guess there were plenty of horrible people.
Didn't make me cry like the end of Pan's Labyrinth did.
