Title: Black Swan
Character: Nina Sayers Thomas Leroy
Actor: Natalie Portman Vincent Cassel
Themes: Perfectionism / Psychology / Dance
Plot summary: Its plot centers around a performance of ballet Swan Lake by a New York City company. The production requires a ballerina to shoulder two roles, both the beautiful pure White Swan and the sensual Black Swan. Nina is a perfect casting for the White Swan, while Lily has a natural inclination toward the Black Swan. When the two are engaged in competition for the part, Nina begins to detect a dark side within her.
Reflections: From the swirl of its initial letter to its sighing vowel and feather-soft final consonant, the very word—swan. However, a beautiful fearful fragile girl---Nina---underwent a huge circle only to achieve an elusive perfection. Lily did not really exist but is merely a symbol of Nina’s self-restraint, so did her mother, these two characters represented that she had the shadow evil spirit to bond in her mind, at that time, there was no perfection at all. The Swan Lake was not so much a romance as a tragic.
