towards new techs
The world benefits from technology improvements but all the time people are not really friendly about new techs. Although they are used to feed ourselves, to make money, and to build everything, people still think their minds is actually controlling the world but not machineries and computers. This is true, currently, because techs are not good enough.
Engineers want to develop new techs, VCs are eager to invest new techs, and customers are exciting about new techs. Reasons of these, they are cool, they can make the world a better place, and they can make them rich, are more or less the same thing. Richard and Jared projecting their dreams on the new Internet seems to be more integrity and noble than Erlich and Keenan's naked desiring for money. But they, together with all other characters and movements in the episodes, will eventually make new techs go to the same direction: booming without control.
New techs are selected by the market and the whole society instead of one or two tech leaders. Human as a whole, i.e. the crowd, is incredibly selfish, rude, stupid, and short-sighted. Letting them direct the tech growth is like giving the mad king some dragons. The world will be burned and one day techs will be good enough to have their own thoughts and minds, which may be not quite different from human's but must be equipped with far better bodies.
