It took approximately four hours of staring into the vacuum, a bowl of pho noodle and some squeezed out tears to recover from this movie. And am I ever surprised when I got to the site seeking to sympathize with other audiences. Not the responses I had in mind. Seeing the degradation of Jasmine from a vain, selfish woman to a real mental was a painful experience, to say the least.
There were a few moments where I thought audiences in the front row looks like they were about to get up and walk out, but it turned out they were just shifting(uncomfortably) in their seats.
The music was probably the only comic relief throughout the entire thing, very ironic jazz that adds tints of black humour to the otherwise extremely depressing plot. However during a few scene I swear there was a noticeable heavy, rhythmic sound that almost resembles a heartbeat. I'd love to find out whether it's a part of the effects or just explosions from another movie playing next door, but going through this misery once is quite enough.
